Blog 53

We are delighted to announce that we have a new addition to the team here at Degree 53. Lauren has recently joined us with a decade's experience in digital marketing and user experience (UX) and will lead on securing new contracts, working alongside our MD Andy and fellow Business Development Manager, Adam.

We thought we’d start by introducing Lauren through a mini Q&A so you can get to know a little bit more about her.

Lauren our new team member

Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

I started working in Business Development whilst I was in college and haven’t looked back since. I love talking to and meeting new people so having that as a career is amazing. I’ve seen Digital change dramatically since I first started in this industry in 2005 and what we can now achieve for our customers excites me.

What appeals to you most about a Business Development role?

Nosey by nature, I love learning about people and their organisations. It’s great to sit down with someone, get to know them, their business and their vision and then help them figure out a solution to support them, whether they’re just starting out or are an established organisation looking to grow or support their employee and customer base more effectively.

Why did you decide to join Degree 53?

I was aware of Degree 53 and some of the projects they had completed through channels like Linkedin and Twitter and had been impressed with the feedback I saw from their customers. Degree 53 are a young company, with a huge amount of energy and expertise. Their impressive growth and the potential for future growth is one of the things that attracted me and after meeting the team it was an easy decision.

iOS or Android?

You have been with us just over a month, how are you finding it?

I love it, everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive. It’s fantastic to work in an environment that is so open. There’s definitely a work hard play hard mentality which is great.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I am a mum to two beautiful children, so goes without saying that I end up climbing trees, spending time with Peppa Pig, I’m great with glitter (not a lover of finding it attached to everything for weeks afterwards) and walking dogs. When I do get a minute to myself I enjoy Thai Boxing and doing things that scare me slightly like skiing, quad biking, and anything else that involves speed and heights.

If you had to describe yourself in five words, what would they be?

Clumsy, Daring, Outgoing, Inquisitive (because it sounds better than nosey) and Driven.

Since you weren't here for Degree 53’s scariest life moments can you briefly tell us about one of yours?

Getting onto a ski slope for the first time, without any lessons and realising halfway down that I didn’t know how to stop. Needless to say I crashed straight into a barrier, upside down with a stuck ski. It was great fun! I’ve since had lessons and know how to stop!

Feel free to say hello and connect with Lauren on Linkedin. She is also on Twitter if you’d like to give her a follow @Lauren_Luke1285.
