Happy birthday to us! We can’t believe we’ve been in business for 3 years! We’ve been pretty busy this year and haven’t noticed how quickly time flies!
So much has happened in the past year, we thought we’d put together some of our highlights.
Amazing client wins
We’ve secured some really interesting clients that we’re proud to add to our portfolio. These include Penn Interactive Ventures, Flint Group and Sofology, as well as building our relationships with existing clients, such as Co-operative Bank and Betfred. We’ve been working on creating online gambling products, digital retail solutions and even a dating app. Watch this space!
Overall, we’ve produced 17 iOS apps, 13 Android apps, 2 Windows Phone apps and 13 websites this year, and are working on a number of other great projects.
It’s great to see that our efforts have been noticed and we’ve been listed in GP Bullhound’s list of North’s 50 fastest growing tech companies in 2016. We’ve also popped up at number 24 in Prolific North Top 50 Digital Agencies list! We’re delighted to be ranked among some of the biggest and successful companies out there.
It’s also been a great honour for us to have been nominated for a few awards. One of the most recent ones are Digital Entrepreneur Awards for Best Use of Mobile Technology and Digital Entrepreneur of the Year (Andrew Daniels). We’re keeping our fingers crossed for these two!
Over the past year, we’ve also been shortlisted for the Big Chip Awards for Best Use of Mobile and Digital Agency awards and Prolific North Awards for Large Digital Agency and App of the Year.
This shows that we’re on the right track and look forward to bringing out more work that could win us some recognition!
A royal visit
Back in September last year, we had a surprise visit from HRH Prince Andrew, while he was hosting the Pitch@Palace event at the Sharp Project campus. We were lucky enough to be able to give him a tour of the company and he even dropped in on a Product Design Sprint we were running at the time! He had some really useful insights on the user testing that was taking place.
Last Christmas, we held a charity campaign, #SaveTheSprouts, to raise money for research for fighting testicular cancer. It was a nice way of creating awareness about a cause that’s close to our hearts. We created a video and sent Christmas cards to our clients to help us with this initiative. All proceeds went to Cancer Research UK.
We’ve made some changes in our team and around the office. We’ve hired a new commercial director who is taking care of our client relations and looks after business development. This will strengthen our strategic approach and help to grow our client portfolio.
At Degree 53, we like to look after our employees and try to make sure they are happy in their working environment. To ensure that, we’ve refurbed our office and created a cosy breakout area where they can chill and play Mario Kart (and we hold tournaments!) to get away from the screen. We’ve also set up a darts board so anyone can play if they prefer this.
One of the most anticipated events during the year is probably our Summer Party which has been pretty epic in the past. This year, the team went for a weekend in Ibiza, which included a boat trip and some serious partying. Well done to those troopers that came in on the following Monday!
It’s been an exciting year for Degree 53 and we’re delighted to be working with such an amazing team and clients. We look forward to seeing what else is in store for us during the next year!
