We've recently created a new mobile app for Sykes Cottages, which offers a personalised post-booking experience to help customers make the most of their stay. The app enables users to plan activities in the vicinity of their cottage, listing different food and drink places, entertainment and events, places of interest and other useful information.
The new travel companion app from Sykes Cottages is aimed at holidaymakers that have already booked accommodation and want to start planning their holiday in more detail. Customers can benefit from personalised deals on a number of nearby attractions, receive local recommendations and tips from the property owners, as well as the ability to book meals in the nearest pubs and restaurants. Users can also manage their bookings, pay outstanding balance and re-book the property for another holiday. This way, Sykes Cottages can stay in touch with their customers and make their holiday more enjoyable.
The stakeholders at Sykes Cottages spotted a gap in their customer journey where there was a lack of interaction after bookings. They decided to create an app that would help them address that. After a number of Product Design Sprints with Degree 53, the prototype of the new app was born. The digital experts carried out user testing to ensure it met the stakeholders’ goals. Once the team received positive feedback, the project was ready for development.
Degree 53 provided digital expertise in creating solutions to meet Sykes Cottages’ and their customers’ needs. The team provided bespoke design, development and integrations with third party systems for the app.
James Shaw, chief marketing officer at Sykes Cottages comments: “We’re very excited about our new holiday app. It enables us to grow our relationship with our customers, offer them useful advice for their breaks, as well as encouraging them to make another booking. The team at Degree 53 were very knowledgeable about how this app could help our business and what customers look for in travel products. They’ve helped us create a more personalised approach to our bookings. We were also impressed how valuable the Product Design Sprint workshops and user testing can be at the beginning of creating an app.
Andrew Daniels, managing director at Degree 53 says: “I’m very happy with the launch of this app. It has so many options for Sykes Cottages to expand on this offering, adding value to their customers, as well as building a stronger relationship with them. Mobile apps can be great for complementing a brand and growing retention. Our team went through a number of ideas and put together the best solution thanks to user testing. I’m very excited to see how this app will be received and where Sykes Cottages will take it.”
